Brand Hatch Creative established a long-term partnership with Burlock and Barrel Distillers of Florida during the conceptual stages of their distillery. As a leading creative agency, we played a crucial role in developing their brand identity, setting its unique direction, and setting it apart from competitors. Our expertise led us to create custom typography for their various platforms, collateral, and packaging, ensuring a cohesive and distinct visual identity.
The brand name, Burlock and Barrel, pays homage to the notorious bootlegger William Frederick McCoy, known as “Bill McCoy,” who dominated Rum Row during the prohibition period and popularized the phrase “the real McCoy.” Additionally, the company derived its name from the “burlock,” a method of bundling six straw-wrapped bottles. Situated on the banks of the St John’s River in Jacksonville, near the same location where Bill McCoy conducted his business in the 1920s, Burlock and Barrel Distillers stands as a testament to the area’s rich history.
Building on the success of our previous collaboration, which resulted in the acclaimed “Burlock and Barrel Reserve Whiskey,” we embarked on conceptualizing their next release, the “Burlock and Barrel Distillers Select.” From ideation to execution, our team provided creative design and direction, meticulously crafting the brand’s packaging, identity, copywriting, and selecting label stock and finishing details.
