Teeling Whiskey Explorers Edition

Teeling Whiskey Explorers Edition Series celebrates intrepid Irish explorers who have travelled the world to make their mark. Each release embraces a nation’s character and personality by using unique cask or spirit types that capture their natural identity. For our Japanese Edition, this 15-Year-Old Irish Whiskey was first matured in bourbon barrels and then aged for an additional four years in casks previously used to mature Japanese distilled Mugi Shochu, very unique casks never used before for Irish whiskey maturation imparting its distinctive flavors. Mugi Shochu is the hidden gem of Japanese spirits that is even consumed more than Sake domestically, Japanese Shochu is a Single Distilled (in a Pot Still) spirit that uses the traditional Koji fermentation techniques to showcase the flavours of the underlying ingredient of Mugi (Barley). The resulting spirit is then aged in oak barrels producing a distinct light yet exotic fruity spirit unique to Japan. Challenging the conventions of what an Irish whiskey can be, this unique bottling has distinct lychee and passion fruit notes unique to Irish Whiskey.
